Pop Star Demi Lovato to Perform National Anthem Prior to Mayweather vs. McGregor

By Tristen Critchfield Aug 22, 2017

Demi Lovato will perform the national anthem prior to the highly anticipated boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor, Mayweather Promotions announced Tuesday.

“Lovato is a GRAMMY-nominated artist with one of the world’s most powerful voices on-and-off the stage and will be singing the anthem at a boxing event for the first time in her career,” a release stated. Lovato also has numerous platinum singles to her credit and recently released the 2017 hit “Sorry Not Sorry.”

While Lovato has never performed the anthem at a boxing match, she is no stranger to combat sports. Lovato has been spotted in attendance at Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator MMA events and has been romantically linked to fighters Luke Rockhold and Guilherme Vasconcelos. Lovato has also posted videos on social media accounts of her own martial arts training.

Mayweather and McGregor will square off on Saturday in a 12-round fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The four-bout card will be distributed via pay-per-view by Showtime and will be available for $99.95 in high definition and $89.95 in standard definition.
