Vasquez lands two nice jabs, but Omotoso is game, returning salvos of his own. Nice action late and Vasquez is bleeding somewhere on the right side of his forehead. 10-9 Vasquez.

Round 6

It’s revealed that the cut on Vasquez was from a headbutt in the previous round. Nice left hand and double jab by Vasquez, but Omotoso nails him with a great left hook. Vasquez comes right back with a right/left and then a brawl breaks out. Terrific back-and-forth action on the inside, but Vasquez’ speed is the difference. They separate and regroup, where Omotoso stalks down Vasquez, who is jabbing to keep a distance. Hard straight left to the cheek by Vasquez but Wale’s chin is as strong as steel. Vasquez is bleeding again, but it’s not in a spot to create problems. With a minute left, Omotoso is more aggressive, but Vasquez is boxing and moving more than he was earlier. Nice double jab/straight left to the chin by Vasquez late. 10-9 Vasquez.

Round 7

A secondary replay shows than an errant elbow is what cut Vasquez on the head in the fifth, not a headbutt. Omotoso comes right out and chases down Vasquez, trying to make it a slugfest. Wale digs a long right to the body but Vasquez counters with a jab to the face. Omotoso swings away and Vasquez obliges; there is a brief spurt of warfare in the center of the ring. At the midway point, Omotoso unfurls a brilliant right hand that is clean, but Vasquez is unfazed. Omotoso nails his foe with a hard left hook to the body/left hook to the face. They come together in a fury and when they split, Vasquez is cut right on the top of his forehead, likely from another headbutt. They violently exchange blows. Great back-and-forth action. Vasquez storms in but eats a hard left hook and he stumbles into his foe, but it looks like he tripped over the Nigerian’s feet. Vasquez tags him a hard left hand and then another. A monster of a right cross misses from Omotoso at the bell. 10-9 Vasquez.

Round 10

Omotoso clearly needs a knockout in order to win this one. His corner is yelling at him to get in close and go for broke. Omotoso is extremely aggressive, going for the dramatic finish. Vasquez backs up with the jab, not looking to engage. Straight left by Vasquez behind the jab and suddenly Omotoso stops throwing. Nice left hand again by Vasquez, who opens up a flurry. Omotoso backs up, possibly rocked, but then he finally punches back. At the midway point, Omotoso needs to let everything go, but he’s not overly aggressive. Wale misses with a killer of an overhand right and then eats a jab. Vasquez pops him with a nice left and then a terrific right hook. Jab, jab, jab by Vasquez keeps Omotoso away with 30 seconds left. With 10 seconds to go, Omotoso doesn’t seem to have the strength to unload and simply walks after Vasquez, who tosses out a few jabs at the end. A superb fight to kick off PBC on CBS on Father’s Day. 10-9 Vasquez.
