John Jackson vs. Dennis Laurente

Round 1

Laurent comes out with a southpaw stance and a few jabs to the body. Jackson tags him with a right hand as Laurente comes inside. Laurente continues to slam to the body but Jackson seems like the stronger of the two. Jackson lands four-punch combo to the head and body. Laurente lunges in with a left hook but it misses and the fails to land anything when he flails away at his moving target. Jackson connects with a right uppercut but the Filipino takes it well. Jackson establishes his jab late and then fires off three nasty rights to the belly. Laurente storms back at the bell but he runs out of time. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 2

Laurente is down as soon as the round starts, but it’s a slip. Jackson clubs away with a right to the head and then a combo to the body. Laurente lands a right and left downstairs but Jackson counters with a right to the dome. Laurente becomes a statue briefly and Jackson tees off on his body and then a shot to the head. Laurente is moving to his left, but he now seems leery of letting his hands go. Jackson proceeds to jab and tag the body. Laurente jumps in with a right to the body late but Jackson copies him at the bell. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 3

Left to the body and then a right to head drops Laurente about 15 seconds into the round. He gets up but he seems a little wobbled. Laurente storms right at him with a furious flurry but Jackson blocks virtually everything. Hard left hook to the liver by Jackson hurts Laurente, who complains it was on his kidney. Jackson backs off, looking to set up another right hand behind the jab. Laurente is walking right after Jackson, who is jabbing and moving well. Jackson nails him with a right uppercut on the inside just before the bell. 10-8 Jackson.

Round 4

Jackson lets his hands go early and lands a nice combo to the head and body. Laurente misses with a loopy left hand, misses, and falls into the ropes. They trade jabs before Jackson pegs him with four straight lead rights to the face. Five. Laurente goes to the body with the right and left, but then a third body shot is too low and he’s warned. Laurente comes in and pops his foes with a short left hook with about a minute left. Jackson switches to southpaw and lands a few jabs before getting hit with a left hand during a clinch at the bell. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 5

Laurente comes out a little more aggressive and goes with a flurry, but Jackson blocks most of the shots. Laurente charges in with a lunging right hand but misses, and is instantly countered by a short left to the jaw. Jackson isn’t very active in this round, allowing Laurente to win it on volume alone. Jackson opens up with some jabs and left to the body but this round belongs to the Filipino. 10-9 Laurente.

Round 6

Laurente opens up with a flurry to the body but he’s warned for a low blow. Jackson comes back with a right to the head, but it’s a glancing blow. Jackson reels off a few jabs and then a shot to the ribs, but Laurente storms back with a decent flurry to the body and head. Jackson returns the favor by doling out three bombs to the midsection. Laurente lunges in with a right hand but he walks right into a left jab. Jackson lands a three-punch combo, backs off, and then goes with another multi-punch flurry just before the bell. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 7

Laurente is trying to get Jackson into a brawl and is chasing him around the ring, but the Virgin Islander is jabbing well. The shorter Laurente is having a difficult time trying to get inside pas the jab. Jackson isn’t throwing too many punches but he doesn’t need to because his jab is on point. John goes with three straight rights to the face and then unloads with a slick three-punch combo to the head and body. Laurente eye’s are starting to swell a little bit late in the round as he walks after his foe. Laurente can’t cut the ring off at all and in turn eats five punches to the head. All Jackson. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 8

Jackson is moving early, going side-to-side as he jabs. Laurente is just lunging in, trying to land bombs. Laurente is looking very desperate already as he is running after Jackson, trying to engage. But when Laurente gets close enough, he winds up smothering his own punches and either walks into the jab or is tied up. Jackson remains calm, popping off stiff jabs whenever he wants. Nice right to the face by Jackson with a minute left, followed by a beautiful left hook and uppercut. Jackson continues to stick the jab out there with the scattered straight right. Jackson 10-9.

Round 9

Right uppercut, left hook to the body by Jackson, but Laurente takes it well. Laurente keeps moving forward, but Jackson’s jab is beautiful. Laurente gets in close but a right uppercut snaps his head back. A follow-up overhand right nails him clean, but Laurente’s jaw is proving to be a sturdy one. Crushing left hook to the body from Jackson with about a minute back. Huge right hand clobbers Laurente and he takes a step back. He regroups and charges in, but Laurente walks into another menacing right to the face. 10-9 Jackson.

Round 10

Laurente obviously needs knockout in order to win and he is very assertive to start the round. Jackson is cool, backing up and jabbing when he needs to. Jackson pops his foe with a double right to the head. A third one hurts him. Laurente stumbles back and covers up, making Jackson step on the accelerator. Laurente clears his head and fires back, but he can’t land anything of note. Laurente is flailing away with a minute left, hoping to land a shot that will change the outcome. Jackson blocks and dodges them all, peppering him with jabs. Hard left hook by Jackson just before the bell. 10-9 Jackson (100-89 Jackson).

Yudel Jhonson vs. Jorge Cota

Round 1

Johnson fires off a jab from the southpaw stance right away but Cota returns the favor. Cota tags him with a counter right to the jaw and the Cuban’s legs buckle a bit. Johnson has to clinch to clear his head and when he backs off, he seems okay. Cota is trying to make it a brawl and catches him again with the right. Johnson backs away to regroup and tries to establish a safe distance with jab. Johnson lands a hard left to the body and then comes upstairs with the left. Cota is hurt and eats another left. Cota fires back with a flurry and rips Johnson with the right, but Yudel nails him with another left. Very good action with a minute left. They flail away at the bell, but Johnson is able to crash two clean lefts onto his foe’s jaw. Very close round. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 2

They come right out where they left off, with Johnson landing two crisp lefts to the chin. Cota backs into the ropes and then regroups. Cota dives in and tries to make it an inside brawl, but Johnson pops him again with the left. Cota is hit hard to the body and he’s already breathing heavy. Johnson smothers Cota’s power and presses him into the ropes, but Cota is able to clip him with a right to the cheek. Johnson backs off and goes to the jab, snapping his head back a few times before popping him with a lead left. They trade wild hooks very late but neither man lands anything. 10-9 Johnson.

Round 3

Jhonson swings away as Cota closes the gap, but he only lands a glancing left hand. Cota digs a series of shots down to the body, but Jhonson tags him with a left cross to the head. Nice double jab to the gut followed by a left to the dome rocks Cota, who is forced to hold on. Jhonson opens up a wild flurry but misses most of his shots. Cota misses a sloppy, loopy left hook and stumbles around. Cota is wobbly a bit after taking a left to the head. Cota clears his head and dishes out a four-punch flurry to the body. Jhonson lands a hard left hook just before the bell and misses a wild right, but he walks into a left hook and is dropped. HE stumbles out through the ropes but the ref rules it a slip. Replays show a clear knockdown just as the bell sounds. 10-9 Jhonson.

Round 4

Cota comes out a little more aggressive but Jhonson defends the attacks. Nice overhand left to the face by Jhonson, but Cota walks right through it. Cota is still looking to make it a brawl, but Jhonson is back to sticking and moving. Cota looks tired late and clinches. When they separate, Cota nails him with a monstrous left hand and Jhonson shakes his head in approval. Jhonson is clinching a lot late in the round, keeping it close. 10-9 Jhonson.

Round 5

Short left hook glances of Cota’s chin and he stumbles to his right, his glove touching the canvas. It’s ruled a slip because he tripped over Jhonson’s feet. The action has slowed down quite a bit a minute into the frame, but Jhonson lands a nice three-punch combo. Cota cracks with a three-punch combo and then a left hook. Jhonson flurries to the body but Cota blocks the follow-up shots to the head. Nice right/left to the face by Cota, but Jhonson fires off a counter left. Very close round again. 10-9 Cota.

Round 6

Cota starts the round with a multi-punch combo to the stomach, but his hard left to the head misses. Jhonson tags him with a left hook behind the ear. Jhonson is looking like he’s slowing down now but Cota appears to be getting stronger with a second wind. Cota backs into a corner and has to eat two uppercuts, but he takes them well. Jhonson ducks under a left hook and drills the Mexican with a counter right hook. They get inside and Jhonson nails him with another uppercut. They clinch and Jhonson pushes and punches Cota, prompting the ref to take a point away. 10-8 Cota.

Round 7

They clinch early and often, looking to brawl in a phone booth. Jhonson is doing most of the clinching, smothering Cota’s power. Jhonson misses a powerful left hook and slips onto his gloves and knees. It’s ruled a slip. Jhonson lands a short right hand as he comes in to clinch. They continue to maul each other in the clinch but Cota is able to nail him with a nice right to the head. Jhonson lands a decent double left just before the bell. 10-9 Jhonson.

Round 8

Cota storms out of his corner but he’s smothered immediately. They split, allowing Cota to dish out a slick double left to the head. They trade leather in the center of the ring but when Cota backs into the ropes, the Cuban hits him with a nice overhand left. They clinch again and again, but Jhonson clips him with an illegal punch to the back of the head. He’s warned. Cota drills him with a left hook and Jhonson is rocked. Cota opens up and goes for the finish but Jhonson wakes up and returns the fire. Great two-way action with a minute left. They trade more blows and an errant left hand drops Jhonson. He is up quickly and is allowed to continue. Jhonson quickly lands a powerful left hand right at the bell. 10-8 Cota.

Round 9

Replays show that the knockdown should have been ruled a slip as the left hook missed. They come right after each other to start the frame and clinch. They split up and trade left hands to the face. Jhonson lunges in for a right but he’s met with a straight left, dropping the Cuban onto his knees. He’s up and is a bit shaky. Jhonson backs up, trying to jab to safety but Cota isn’t gunning for the kill. They clinch but when they separate, Cota nails him two rights to the head and Jhonson is down. The ref inexplicably doesn’t rule him down. He is up and hurt badly, stumbling around. Cota is looking to end things but the bell saves Jhonson. 10-8 Cota.

Round 10

Jhonson still wobbly and he is tagged by a clean left to the face. He stumbles into the ropes and then clinches. Cota is trying to take him out with a flurry but the Cuban escapes before forcing another clinch. Cota lands two jabs but eats a right hook. They go toe-to-toe briefly before another left hand rocks Jhonson. Jhonson knows he has to finish strong and he’s winging rights and lefts, but Cota tags him. Huge right hand clobbers Jhonson and he is out on his feet. He fumbles forward as Cota throws all sorts of shots, trying to take him out. Jhonson lands a decent right and left but takes another left to the head. He is out as the fight ends and keeps punching after the bell. 10-9 Cota (95-92 Cota).

Juan Carlos Payano vs. Rau’shee Warren

Round 1

Warren fires off a stiff jab from the southpaw stance right away. Payano comes right after him, looking to brawl. Payano misses with a wild overhand left and right hook. Warren goes to the jab again and again. Whenever Payano gets close, Warren ties him up. Payano continuously is looking to bang but Warren’s jab and movement prevent it. Warren lands a slick check hook as he backs up. Payano with a flurry to the body and head, but Warren tags him with a nice counter right hook late. Good action for the first round of the main event. 10-9 Warren.

Round 2

Payano lands a series of jabs to the body but Warren nails him with a sharp right to the head. Payano misses with a leaping left and then eats a left in return. Payano stumbles into the corner and Warren opens up an assault. They trade leather briefly before clinching. Payano is still trying to get inside, to make it a brawl, but Warren ties him up. Counter left to the top of the head by Warren as Payano misses another wild right. Payano comes right back with a powerful right uppercut and Warren shakes his head to acknowledge it. Payano misses with a right and left, allowing the challenger to tag him with a counter right. 10-9 Warren.

Round 3

Payano storms right out and charges after Warren, who ducks under the flurry and tags him. They brawl and Payano drills a punch to Warren’s back when they turned, but referee Frank Santore takes a point without a warning. They resume and Payano is applying a ton of pressure, but Warren is riding it, unloading a barrage to the body. Warren nails him with a hard right to the head, forcing Payano to back up. Payano clocks him with a loopy left hand but Rau’Shee comes right back with a left. Very good action at the bell but the American gets the better of the two. 10-8 Warren.

Round 4

Warren misses with a huge right hook and Payano ducks under to clinch. They brawl toe-to-toe and out of nowhere, a low blow floors Payano. He is writhing on the canvas, rolling back and forth in agony. Replays show a right uppercut way below the belt. Payano immediately springs to his feet and charges after Warrern, who obliges. After brawling, Warren backs off with the jab, sticking him three times. Payano clips his challenger with a right hand but Warren is unfazed. Warren eats a left hand and then has to take another left to the head. Jab-jab-overhand right from Warren with 30 seconds left. 10-9 Warren.

Round 5

Payano tags him with a nice left/right immediately. Warren is trying to back away and use the jab, but Payano is all over him. Nice loopy left to the head for the Dominican and the tide seems to be slowly turning in Payano’s favor. Warren lands a thunderous right hand to the head, but Payano walks through it. Juan Carlos is trying to keep it a brawl but Warren wants to keep a distance. Payano gets inside and plugs away at the head and body. There is a cut above Payano’s right eye very late in the round. 10-9 Payano.

Round 6

Payano comes right out again, forcing Warren into a brawl. Warren backs off and rests, but Payano nails him with a nasty overhand left to the head. Warren can’t move as well as he was earlier and Payano is all over him, flailing away to the head and body. Warren ties up the champ whenever he gets close, but Payano bombards the body. Warren is warned for continuous holding at the midway point. Pay7ano remains relentless, always going to the body. Warren counters with a nice right to the ear before clinching. Warren holds on while he crushes five straight shots to the champ’s ribs before Warren is shoved to the canvas. 10-9 Payano.

Round 7

Warren starts off by riding his bike, but Payano chases after him. They trade blows along the ropes before Warren escapes out the side. Warren is now moving side-to-side, looking to re-establish his jab. Payano continues to charge like a bull, trying to force a brawl. Triple jab from Payano and then a left to the head. Warren counters with a left but Payano answers with an overhand left. With his back against the ropes, Warren unfurls a nice left cross and then a right hook. Payano remains in his face, digging to the body and head. Warren is starting to slow a little bit by round’s end. 10-9 Payano.

Round 8

Payano rushes out and gets right in Warren’s face, but Rau’Shee slugs with him. They trade blows until they clash heads, opening a cut in between Payano’s eyebrows. Payano charges right at him and throws bombs and Warren retaliates. Great action briefly before they clinch. Warren unloads a flurry to the head and body but Payano returns the favor. Nice, hard shots to the body for Payano, forcing Warren to tie him up. They brawl forehead-to-forehead late, with Payano doing more damage. Warren is trying to back off to regroup but Payano is all over him. Close round. 10-9 Payano.

Round 9

Payano storms right at him and walks into a huge counter left to the head. He’s rocked and Warren shoves him down and into the corner. Santore calls a halt and deducts two points for an intentional foul. Warren is angrily protesting but the fight continues. They clash in the center of the ring and slug away but their heads come together violently. Payano clutches his right eye and has to hang on. Santore stops the action and summons the doctor. His right eye is almost swollen shut and it has a gash over it. Payano is allowed to continue and he keeps a distance. Warrne begins throwing almost left hand exclusively. Warren is all over him and they are trading serious leather. Payano is down by the ropes but it’s from a Warren push. Santore warns Warren that if he does it again, he’ll disqualify him. Warren charges right at him and slugs away but Payano is looking to hang on and survive the round. With 40 seconds left, Payano finally comes alive with a flurry to the head and body. Nice left/right to the head by Payano late. 10-7 Payano.

Round 10

Payano comes out and delivers a powerful right hook that stuns Warren, but Rau’Shee quickly regroups. Warren backs up after a clinch, trying to jab. Payano is still aggressive, lunging forward with wild lefts and rights. They exchange blows and Payano is down, but it’s correctly ruled a slip. They brawl in the clinch again and again and Payano is trying to bait Warren into more fouls but Santore warns him that he’s initiating it. Warren tags him with a counter left hand with 30 seconds left. Payano misses a right hook and absorbs a right to the body, followed by a double right hook to the chin at the bell. 10-9 Warren.

Round 11

Warren comes forward while jabbing. Payano slugs away to the body and Warren follows suit. They go toe-to-toe briefly before Warren ties him up. Warren is tagged by a right to the ear and his counter left misses. Nice overhand left from Warren and doubles up his right hook. Payano is still trying to force a brawl, chasing him down. They bantamweights are slowing down late as fatigue is setting in. Payano opens up with a flurry to the body and head, but Warren counters with a right to the temple. Payano’s right eye is a disgusting, swollen mess. He complains about a head butt before Warren drills him with a massive right hand at the end. 10-9 Warren.

Round 12

This fight is likely up for grabs. Whoever wins this round could win the fight. Payano is coming right after him but Warren ties him up. Payano is desperate as he pounds the body. They trade blows and Warren nails him with a right hook and it’s clean. Payano is down and then does a back flip when he gets up. Payano now most likely needs to stop Warren because of the knockdown. Payano goes right after him, digging to the body and head. Warren backs off and pops him with another right hand. Payano is trying everything he can to make it a brawl but Warren keeps tying him up. Warren clips him with a left hand before taking four shots to the body. They flail away at the bell, ending a wildly entertaining skirmish, 10-8 Warren.
