Referee Herb Dean will oversee the flyweight title fight between Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso at UFC 178.

Judges Sal D’Amato, Marcos Rosales and Glenn Trowbridge will be cageside to score the 125-pound tilt.

The referee and judging assignments for the UFC 178 headliner were set by the Nevada Athletic Commission during a meeting on Thursday.

UFC 178 takes place on Sept. 27 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and also features the promotional debut of Eddie Alvarez, who faces Donald Cerrone in the co-main event.

Dean, a former fighter turned official, has been inside the Octagon for some of mixed martial arts’ biggest fights in recent years. Dean has been the referee for two of “Mighty Mouse’s” previous Zuffa appearances – against John Moraga at UFC on Fox 8 and Brad Pickett at WEC 48.
