Report: Ariane Lipski Set to Make Octagon Debut Against Joanne Calderwood at UFC 233

While Ariane Lipski was unable to make her Ultimate Fighting Championship debut at UFC Fight Night 140, she has now been booked with a new opponent for January.

According to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, women’s flyweight debutant Lipski is slated to face Joanne Calderwood at UFC 233 on Jan. 26.

The winningest female fighter in KSW history tied with Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Lipski went a perfect 5-0 in the promotion with four stoppages before leaving to sign with the UFC. With her initial debut scuttled after then-opponent Maryna Moroz broke her foot, the promotion was unable to find a timely replacement to keep Lipski on the November card.

Facing off against “The Violence Queen” will be Calderwood, who participated in the first women’s flyweight bout in UFC history, where she stopped Valerie Letourneau in the third round with a body kick and follow-up strikes. The bout with Letourneau took place before the weight class had even been officially established.

UFC 233 will take place in Anaheim, California, on Jan. 26 and the promotion is targeting a bantamweight championship headliner between champ T.J. Dillashaw and flyweight champion Henry Cejudo. Also on the card will be a long-anticipated lightweight clash between part-time commentator Paul Felder and James Vick.
