Former KSW middleweight champion Michal Materla was arrested in Poland on Wednesday for his alleged ties to organized crime.

BloodyElbow.com brought word of the arrest via Polish outlet gs24.pl. Materla was reportedly arrested by a unit in Poland’s Central Investigative Bureau (CBS) dedicated to fighting organized crime. Materla was one of 21 arrests made across Poland that were all believed to be tied to the same crime. The exact nature of the alleged crime has yet to be revealed by Polish authorities.

However, Materla will reportedly be detained for three months while more information is gathered regarding the case. According to a statement released to Bloody Elbow, KSW will wait until further details emerge and a possible court ruling before taking any action.

Materla, 32, held the KSW 185-pound belt for three years before relinquishing the title to Mamed Khalidov in a first-round knockout loss at KSW 33 in November 2015. The fighter known as “Magic” is 24-5 over the course of a professional career that includes 18 bouts in the Polish promotion.
