Report: Filho to Defend Belt Against Sonnen

World Extreme Cagefighting middleweight champion Paulo Filho (Pictures) will put his title on the line Dec. 12 in Las Vegas against Chael Sonnen (Pictures), Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday.

Filho, unbeaten in 15 fights, captured the WEC title in August with a first-round stoppage over Joe Doerksen (Pictures). The tenacious Brazilian grappler, who established himself as a contender by winning each of his eight PRIDE bouts, makes the first defense of his WEC championship at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

Also on the card, broadcast live on VERSUS starting 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, WEC featherweight champion Urijah Faber (Pictures) puts his bet up for grabs against accomplished veteran Jeff Curran (Pictures). WEC light heavyweight champion Doug Marshall (Pictures) fights Ariel Gandulla (Pictures). And former UFC lightweight champion Jens Pulver (Pictures) makes the drop to 145 pounds against Cub Swanson (Pictures).
