Report: Former Bellator 145-pound Champion Pat Curran to Battle Goiti Yamauchi

MMAJunkie’s Brent Brookhouse is reporting that former Bellator MMA featherweight champion Pat Curran will collide with 22-year-old prospect Goiti Yamauchi at Bellator 139.

Bellator 139 will go down at the Kansas Star Arena in Mulvane, Kan., on June 26. David Rickels (16-3) and John Alessio (35-17) are also expected to collide on the card.

Curran (20-7) has fallen on hard times recently, losing three of his last four to the likes of Daniel Straus, Patricio Freire and Daniel Weichel. His lone win in the span came against Straus in a rematch in March 2014. The 27-year-old Team Curran representative hails from Crystal Lake, Ill.

Yamauchi (18-2 pro, 7-0 amateur), despite being only 22, has a wealth of experience with 27 professional and amateur bouts on his record. His only loss in the Bellator cage came against Will Martinez in February of last year. The Brazilian-based Japanese fighter is 4-1 with the promotion.
