Widely considered to be one of -- if not the -- greatest mixed martial artists of all time, former Pride Fighting Championships heavyweight ace Fedor Emelianenko is reportedly considering a return to action.

In an interview with Russian outlet Union MMA, Emelianenko declared that he has been working on his game since he walked away in June of 2012 following a first-round knockout of Pedro Rizzo, and will rev up his training once a deal is in place for his return. Although not specified in the article, the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator MMA are likely the frontrunners to secure his services.

Emelianenko, 38, was once viewed as the greatest talent in the sport and accumulated a professional record of 34-4 with 1 NC. Rumors swirled of a potential UFC showdown with Brock Lesnar at the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, but the bout never came to fruition.

Fedor beat the best of the best during his run in Pride FC and Affliction, including wins over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (twice), Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, Mark Hunt, and former UFC heavyweight champions Andrei Arlovski, Mark Coleman (twice) and Tim Sylvia.
