A lightweight tilt between Takanori Gomi and Myles Jury has been added to the UFC’s Sept. 20 return to Japan.
Fox Sports initially brought word of the pairing. UFC Fight Night “Hunt vs. Nelson” takes place at the Saitama Arena in Saitama Japan and is headlined by a heavyweight scrap between Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson. The entire card will air on UFC Fight Pass.
Gomi, who was once considered the No. 1 lightweight in the world during a memorable stint in the Pride Fighting Championships promotion, last fought in Japan at UFC on Fuel TV 8, where dropped a controversial split verdict to Diego Sanchez. “The Fireball Kid” has experienced mixed results in the Octagon, compiling a 4-4 record with the Las Vegas-based promotion.
Jury, meanwhile, is unbeaten five Octagon appearances. Most recently, the Alliance MMA representative earned a dominant unanimous verdict over Diego Sanchez at UFC 171 on March 15.
