Light heavyweight MMA prospect Philip Masterson of Westlake, Ohio, was found dead in the woods of South Bass Island on Tuesday.
Both men reportedly went their separate ways following the altercation, but Masterson went missing shortly thereafter. On Monday, Masterson's mother reported her son's absence to Put-in-Bay police, stating he'd been missing for approximately 18 hours. The fighter's family then reportedly went looking for Masterson on South Bass Island on Tuesday, eventually finding him dead and calling 911. According to the report, Ottawa County sheriff Robert Bratton stated that Masterson appeared to have been severely beaten prior to his death.
Bowling Green police reportedly arrested Brody on Wednesday while walking near his home on charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter and felonious assault.
Brody's bail was set at $750,000 at a Thursday morning hearing at the Ottawa County Municipal Court. As Brody's family is reportedly still in the process of acquiring Brody an attorney, the remainder of the hearing has been postponed until Sept. 14 at 8:30 a.m.
