Report: Released UFC Heavyweight Cody East Arrested for Domestic Violence
Two-time
Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight Cody East has
been arrested for domestic violence, according to published
reports.
KRQE News 13 was first to report the incident.
Per jail records, East was taken into custody by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department in South Valley, New Mexico, early Sunday and charged with aggravated battery against a household member, false imprisonment and aggravated assault against a household member. He was being held at the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center on $30,000 bail, the report indicated.
East is no stranger to the law. He was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading no-contest to child abuse charges in 2008, the report said. The former Legacy Fighting Championship titleholder was also arrested on domestic violence charges in 2006 and 2010, though prosecutors elected not to pursue a case in either instance, according to the report. In addition, East has been arrested twice on sexual assault charges.
The 28-year-old was released by the UFC following back-to-back losses to Walt Harris and Curtis Blaydes.
