Report: Struve-Browne Slated for UFC 130

In a clash of two up-and coming heavyweights, Stefan Struve and Travis Browne will likely square off at UFC 130 on May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Neither the event nor the bout has been officially announced by the promotion. News of the pairing was first reported on Thursday by MMAJunkie.com.

Struve has been on a roll of late, winning back-to-back contests after being knocked out by Roy Nelson at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. The Dutchman holds a 5-2 record since joining the UFC, the only other loss on his resume being a technical knockout to Junior dos Santos in Struve’s debut. The tallest man in the UFC, Struve put away Sean McCorkle at UFC 124 in December. After surviving an early “Big Sexy” kimura attempt, Struve reversed the position beautifully with a hip sweep from the bottom. Landing in full mount, Struve proceeded to drop punches on McCorkle until the referee stopped the contest at 3:55 of the first frame.

A veteran of Bellator Fighting Championships and King of the Cage, Browne has never been defeated. The Hawaiian made his UFC debut at “The Ultimate Fighter 11” Finale, knocking out Brit James McSweeney in the first round. In his sophomore effort with the promotion, “Hapa” was not as impressive, battling French kickboxer Cheick Kongo to a draw. After Kongo ignored repeated warnings about grabbing his opponent’s shorts, the Frenchman was deducted a point at the beginning of the third round for the infraction, costing him the win.
