UFC star Nick Diaz was involved in a fight outside the Hyde nightclub inside the Bellagio in Las Vegas early Wednesday morning, according a report from TMZ Sports.
According to a representative of the fighter, the altercation began when Diaz bumped into a customer near a bathroom outside the club. Diaz apologized, but the man and three others attacked the Stockton, Calif., and a brawl ensued on the Bellagio casino floor before security intervened. The men who jumped Diaz were allegedly swinging chairs and fighting with casino and nightclub staff as well before being removed from the area.
“I didn’t start it. They didn’t know who I was,” Diaz told TMZ.
Diaz reportedly suffered a gash on the top of his head as a result of the attack but has elected not to press charges.
“They got the worst of it,” Diaz said.
A representative from Hyde confirmed to multiple outlets that Diaz was not the cause of the incident.
“We enjoyed having Nick at Hyde Bellagio last night and never had any problems with him in the club,” spokesperson Taylor Fisher told MMAFighting.com. “He was very well behaved.”
Diaz recently completed an 18-month suspension for a positive marijuana test at UFC 183, although a date for his Octagon return remains unknown. The former Strikeforce champion lost a five-round decision to Anderson Silva on Jan. 31, 2015, but that result was overturned to a no contest due to a failed drug test by “The Spider.”
