UFC officials announced Tuesday that Aaron Simpson will welcome Kenny Robertson back to the Octagon at UFC on Fuel TV 4.
UFC on Fuel TV 4 takes place July 11 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., and is headlined by a middleweight confrontation between former NCAA wrestling standouts Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman.
Robertson, 28, posted the lone loss of his professional career in his only appearance with the UFC, suffering a technical knockout defeat at the hands of Mike Pierce 16 months ago at UFC 126. The welterweight rebounded from the loss by knocking out fellow UFC castoff Lucio Linhares with a spinning back-fist in October.
Formerly competing at middleweight, Simpson decided to make the cut to 170 pounds following a split decision loss at the hands of Ronny Markes on Feb. 15. Prior to that defeat, the 37-year-old had won three straight fights, going perfect in 2011 with wins over Mario Miranda, Brad Tavares and Eric Schafer. “A-Train” owns a 6-3 Octagon record and has been finished just once in his 14 career outings.
