Approximately one week after learning his headlining bout against B.J. Penn -- and the entire UFC Fight Night Manila card -- had been canceled, Ricardo Lamas has a new fight.
The Las Vegas-based promotion confirmed on Wednesday that Lamas will square off against Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 98 in Mexico City on Nov. 5. The event takes place at Mexico City Arena and is headlined by a key lightweight showdown between Rafael dos Anjos and Tony Ferguson.
A former 145-pound title challenger, Lamas has compiled a 7-3 mark in the UFC. Most recently, “The Bully” lost a unanimous decision to Max Holloway at UFC 199 on June 4. The Chicago native owns wins over the likes of Diego Sanchez, Dennis Bermudez, Hacran Dias and Cub Swanson, to name a few.
Oliveira has lost two of his last three Octagon appearances, including a third-round submission defeat to ex-lightweight champ Anthony Pettis at UFC on Fox 21. “Do Bronx” began his promotional tenure at 155 pounds but has compiled a 7-4 mark since moving to 145 pounds.
