New Jersey native Rich Attonito will compete close to home on June 22, as promotion officials announced Wednesday that “The Raging Bull” will square off with Rick Story at UFC on FX 4.
Attonito, 34, debuted with the UFC in 2010 following a stint on “TUF 11.” After posting a 2-1 record as a middleweight, the American Top Team fighter made a successful welterweight debut this past June, earning a unanimous nod over Daniel Roberts at UFC Live 4. Most recently, Attonito was bested by Octagon newcomer Jake Hecht, suffering a technical knockout defeat on Dec. 10 at UFC 140.
Story, 27, has sustained back-to-back losses in his last two outings -- the first such stretch of his four-year pro career. Following a six-fight winning streak that saw Story best the likes of Brian Foster, Johny Hendricks and Thiago Alves, the Washington native was outpointed by Charlie Brenneman in June and Martin Kampmann in November to close out 2011.
