Riggs Joins Strikeforce Card
Middleweight Joe Riggs
(Pictures) has stepped in as a late
replacement for Strikeforce's Feb. 23 card in Tacoma, Wash., where
he will take on Cory Devela
(Pictures).
Devela was originally slated to face Cedric Marks (Pictures), who was forced out of the bout with a shoulder injury.
Riggs' last action came in September, where he ran roughshod over Eugene Jackson (Pictures) in his promotional debut for Strikeforce. Riggs was set to face Mike Gates (Pictures) in December as part of a KOTC Canada bill in Moncton, N.B., but the bout was nixed at the eleventh hour due to travel difficulties.
Devela has won five straight, with his last victory being his landslide decision victory over TUF alumnus Lodune Sincaid (Pictures), which was televised live on HDNet.
