Three members of the Gracie family have been added to the World Series of Fighting’s fifth event.
Rolles, Gregor and Neiman Gracie will all compete on the Sept. 14 bill, as they take on Derrick Mehmen, Richard Patishnock and Darren Costa, respectively. WSOF 5 takes place at Revel in Atlantic City, N.J., and the evening’s main draw -- including Rolles’ clash with Mehmen -- will air live on the NBC Sports Network. The two remaining Gracies will compete on the undercard, which streams live and free on Sherdog.com immediately prior to the main draw telecast.
At 35 years old, Rolles is a veteran of nine MMA bouts. Following a one-and-done stint in the UFC back in 2010, the heavyweight has yet to lose a fight, rattling off five straight wins and most recently submitting former Deep champion Yusuke Kawaguchi on New Year’s Eve in Tokyo.
Mehmen has won three consecutive bouts heading into his clash with the jiu-jitsu ace. The Strikeforce and Bellator veteran last competed on May 3, when he outpointed Louis DeWerdt under Iowa’s Pinnacle Combat banner.
While Gregor is a 10-fight veteran, Neiman will make his pro debut at WSOF 5. Patishnock has competed six times as a pro, most recently stopping Gregor’s half-brother, Igor, at WSOF 2 in March. Costa, meanwhile, was stopped this spring in his lone pro appearance, falling by technical knockout on May 11 at CFFC 24.
