Combate Americas will hit Tucson, Ariz., on April 20 with another solid night of action. Headlining Combate 13 will be Roman Salazar taking on Ricardo Palacios in a bantamweight showdown.
Salazar, who hails from nearby Scottsdale, has competed in the famed UFC Octagon three times, though he failed to secure a win. “El Gallito” was submitted by Mitch Gagnon and Marlon Vera and settled for a no contest against Japanese legend Norifumi Yamamoto at UFC 184 when the fight was halted due to an accidental eye poke. Salazar is fresh off a November win over Gilberto Aguilar at WFF 32.
An undefeated professional boxer on the side, Palacios is entering the bout on a four-fight winning streak. A pair of thunderous knockouts preceded two straight unanimous decision wins inside the Combate cage. Five of “El Gallero’s” wins have come via knockout.
Also slated for Combate 13 is the middleweight co-main event featuring Kobe Ortiz and Eddie Arizmendi. Benny Madrid will take on Chad Dietmeyer in a welterweight showdown, while Randy Steinke will stand opposite Irwin Rivera at bantamweight to help round out the undercard.
Combate 13 will be broadcast live on Azteca America at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT from inside Casino Del Sol. The action will be streamed live simultaneously on both UFC Fight Pass and ESPN Latin America, with a one-day tape delay feed on TV Azteca in Mexico.
