UFC 201 will feature a battle of top-10 strawweights, as Rose Namajunas and Karolina Kowalkiewicz have been paired for the July 30 card in Atlanta.
UFC officials on Monday confirmed the matchup to ESPN.com. The pay-per-view portion of UFC 201 will be headlined by a UFC welterweight title bout between champion Robbie Lawler and teammate Tyron Woodley.
Namajunas, 23, has won three in a row since coming up short in her 2014 bout against Carla Esparza to decide the inaugural UFC 115-pound champion. “Thug Rose” last fought in April, when she notched a unanimous decision victory over Tecia Torres at UFC on Fox 19.
Kowalkiewicz, 30, comes to the bout with an unblemished record of 9-0, including back-to-back wins inside the Octagon. The Polish prospect has earned unanimous nods in both of her UFC bouts, topping Randa Markos and Heather Clark in three-round bouts.
