Rose Namajunas-Joanna Jedrzejczyk Rematch Set for UFC 223 Co-Main Event on April 7

UFC 223 has its co-main event, as Rose Namajunas will defend her strawweight title in a rematch against Joanna Jedrzejczyk on April 7.

UFC President Dana White announced the matchup during the promotion’s 25th anniversary press conference on Friday. UFC 223 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and is headlined by a lightweight championship clash between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Namajunas authored one of 2017's biggest upsets when she stopped Jedrzejczyk via technical knockout 3:03 into the opening round at UFC 217 to capture 115-pound gold. “The Ultimate Fighter 20” finalist is 5-2 in the Octagon and also wins over Michelle Waterson, Tecia Torres, Paige VanZant and Angela Hill.

Prior to her loss against Namajunas, Jedrzejczyk had established herself as perhaps the top pound-for-pound female talent in the sport. The Polish star began her professional tenure with 14 consecutive victories, successfully defending the strawweight championship five times in the Octagon.
