Twitter user VestnikMMA was the first to bring word of the ruling. Palhares dropped a highly disputed split verdict to Amirov at the Sept. 4 event, which took place at the Ali Aliev Sports Palace in Kaspiysk in the Republic Dagestan.
The Russian MMA Union reviewed the bout and elected to overturn the decision. The initial result was not announced with scores.
“If fighters are not happy with the decision, fighters themselves, or their management, send an official protest letter to the Russian MMA Union,” Fight Nights Global President Kamil Gadzhiev t told MMAjunkie.com. “They invite three new judges, they watch again, and they can change the decision. Sometimes, they change the decision.”
Palhares is now 1-0-1 under the Fight Nights Global banner. In his promotional debut, he submitted Alexei Ivanov with a heel hook 37 seconds into the opening round on July 7.
