Former UFC talents Rousimar Palhares and Yushin Okami are expected to make their World Series of Fighting debuts on March 29.
WSOF executive Ali Abdel-Aziz revealed the bookings during a Thursday media conference call. No bouts are set in stone for the event, but Aziz additionally announced that two title fights are expected to go down at the upcoming show. Opponents have not been revealed for either Palhares or Okami.
Palhares, 33, has not competed since being banned from the UFC in the wake of his October victory over Mike Pierce, in which Palhares continued to hold a heel hook after the American tapped out. The victory served as “Toquinho’s” welterweight debut and came after back-to-back losses at 185 pounds, as Palhares was knocked out by Alan Belcher and Hector Lombard in 2012.
Okami, meanwhile, saw a three-fight winning streak snapped by Ronaldo Souza in his last outing, prompting UFC officials to release the former title contender. Prior to his September knockout loss to the ex-Strikeforce middleweight ruler, “Thunder” bested Buddy Roberts, Belcher and Lombard to improve his Octagon record to 13-4.
