Newly-formed mixed martial arts promotion Legacy Fighting Alliance announced Friday afternoon that its third event is headed to the Bayou in February. LFA CEO Ed Soares revealed that middleweights Ryan Spann and Trevin Giles will headline LFA 3, which takes place Feb. 10 at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Lake Charles, La.
Giles, an undefeated prospect on the verge of taking that next step to the big time, has already headline shows for both the Resurrection Fighting Alliance and Legacy Fighting Championship this year. When he takes on Spann, he’ll become the only man in history to headline those events and an LFA card.
“I think it’s an honor to fight for the LFA in the main event. It means you’re doing something right,” stated Giles. “Ryan Spann is a tough guy and a good opponent, but I’m not impressed with his will. It can be broken in a fight and it’s just a matter of time before I do at LFA 3. On February 10th, I will become the first person to win main events for RFA, Legacy FC, and LFA.”
Spann, meanwhile, is hoping to get his career back on track. He’s just 1-2 in his last three, with his last bout ending up with Robert Drysdale submitting him in the second via rear-naked choke at Legacy FC 58 in July. He said that Giles is the perfect opponent for him to get things going in the right direction.
“This is a fight I’ve been wanting”, stated an excited Spann. “I wanted to fight someone with a lot of hype, who can also bring in a big crowd like myself. I want to get Trevin Giles out of my way now and then get a title shot. I don’t like undefeated records and I’m going to be the one to change that for him on February 10th.”
LFA will be televised live on AXS TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Additional bouts will be announced in the coming weeks.
