The promotion announced the cancellation on Friday. The bout will not be replaced, and the July 29 event will move forward with 12 fights. UFC 214 takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim and is headlined by a light heavyweight championship rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones. Additionally, Tyron Woodley will defend the welterweight strap against Demian Maia, while Cristiane Justino and Tonya Evinger will vie for the vacant women’s featherweight crown.

Northcutt has yet to compete in 2017 after posting a 1-2 mark in the Octagon last year. The Katy, Texas, native last appeared at UFC on Fox 22, where he suffered a second-round submission loss to Mickey Gall this past December.

Makdessi last competed at UFC 206, where he was knocked out by a spinning wheel kick from Lando Vannata. “The Bull” is 7-6 over the course of a promotional tenure that began in 2010.
