Sasaki Out, Salmon In

Sean Salmon (Pictures) has agreed to move into the main draw of Friday's Strikeforce middleweight four-man, one-night tournament at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., Sherdog.com learned just hours before the Ohioan was set to fight Dennis Hallman (Pictures) in a tournament alternate fight.

Yuki Sasaki (Pictures) was ruled out after the veteran of over 30 fights was denied a license Friday, California State Athletic Commission executive officer Armando confirmed to Sherdog.com. MRI and MRA exams raised concerns over the Japanese fighter's health.

Salmon, who weighed 185 pounds on the nose at Thursday's weigh-in, will fight American Top Team's Jorge Santiago (Pictures). The other side of the bracket remains whole, as Trevor Prangley (Pictures) meets Falaniko Vitale (Pictures). The winners, if healthy, will fight on the Yahoo!-streamed penultimate bout.

Filling Salmon's place in the alternate fight against Hallman will be Jeremiah Metcalf (Pictures), whose licensing requirements were met Friday.

Friday's card begins at 6:15 p.m. PT; the streamed portion on Yahoo! starts at 8 p.m. PT and will be subject to a 150-mile blackout radius.
