Sean Strickland, Igor Araujo to Square off in July on UFC Fight Night Card

Sean Strickland will look to rebound from his first professional loss when he takes on Igor Araujo at an upcoming UFC Fight Night card on July 15.

The event will take place at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. Ultimate Fighting Championship officials acknowledged the pairing Tuesday morning on UFC.com.

Strickland got off to a 15-0 start to his professional career before being derailed by Santiago Ponzinibbio on Feb. 22 in Brazil. The 24-year-old Californian lost by unanimous decision.

Araujo (25-7) is also coming off a loss. The Jackson-Wink MMA representative suffered his first defeat in the Octagon at the hands of George Sullivan via knockout last September.

As of time of publication, only two bouts are confirmed for July 15’s UFC Fight Night card: Araujo-Strickland and Josh Thomson versus Tony Ferguson. The event’s main event is currently unknown, as are broadcast plans for the promotion.
