Showtime Boxing Weigh-in Results: Deontay Wilder, Artur Szpilka Primed & Ready

By Mike Sloan Jan 15, 2016

All of the final hurdles have been cleared for Saturday night’s heavyweight title fight on Showtime as all of the main card combatants officially weighed in on Friday, making the televised portion of the event a go. The event will also stream live and free on, as well.

In the main event, reigning WBC titlist Deontay Wilder will put his dazzling unblemished record on the line when he locks horns with Poland’s Artur Szpilka. Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is on a quest to unify the heavyweight championship of the world and at the weigh-ins, he was focused and fierce. Standing in the way of his goals is Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs), who promises to derail the American’s surge through the division.

Szpilka was the first to the scales on Friday and “Szpila the Pin” came in a svelte 239 pounds. “The Bronze Bomber” was next to the scale and he killed it, officially weighing 228.75 pounds.

Because the IBF decided to strip Tyson Fury of the title after he edged long-time champ Wladimir Klitschko, Charles Martin and Vyacheslav Glazkov were given the opportunity to fight for it. Martin (22-0-1, 20 KOs), from Carson, Calif., tipped the scale at 249 pounds while Ukraine’s Glazkov (21-0-1, 13 KOs) came in at 218.

The telecast will go live on Showtime starting at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT with the action taking place inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and also streaming live on
