Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson said he’s “there” in terms of making his contracted 215-pound catch-weight requirement for his bout this Saturday at “The Ultimate Fighter” Finale in Las Vegas. That doesn’t mean Slice, who’s weighed in as low 234.5 pounds before, has to like it, though.
“I’m going to be straight-up honest with you, man, the last time I was at this weight was in middle school,” said Slice, who faces fellow striker
Houston Alexander. “(The weight cut’s) not good. Not good. (I’m) moody. You just don’t feel the same, you know what I’m saying? It’s mental, but it’s not a good feeling, to be honest with you. I’m a little anxious.”
The 35-year-old Slice, who said he didn’t bring a dietician into his eight-week training camp at American Top Team, hopes his discomfort will yield positive results come Saturday.
Likewise, viewers will be anxious to note if the former streetfighting sensation has improved his game since his appearance on the Spike reality TV series taped last summer. Slice, who’s prided himself on his heavy hands and steely resolve in the past, said he won’t stray too far from what he knows best.
“My style’s pretty much the same,” said Slice. “I’ve developed a little ground here and there, which I don’t like to use in the fight, you know? I like to stand up and knock a guy out or be knocked out and that’s what you get with me.”
