Venator Fighting Championship has added some more notable names to its May event.
The Italian organization -- which last week made headlines when its president angrily defended his decision to promote troubled star Jason “Mayhem” Miller -- on Monday announced a pair of additional matchups for Venator FC 3. Former UFC fighters Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou and Matt Hamill will meet in a three-round light heavyweight contest, while another Octagon veteran, Che Mills, is set to take on Italian welterweight Roberto Rigamonti.
Venator FC 3 takes place May 21 in Milan, Italy, and is scheduled to be headlined by Miller, who will challenge champion Luke Barnatt for the company’s middleweight belt.
Sokoudjou will look to snap a two-fight losing streak which saw him knocked out by Paul Buentello and Linton Vassell in his only bouts of 2015. The 31-year-old Cameroon native has never lost more than two consecutive bouts in his 10-year, 30-fight career.
Hamill, 39, returned from a two-year retirement in October and was submitted by Vinny Magalhaes, marking the wrestler’s fourth loss in five bouts stretching back to 2011.
