Replacing Tom Duquesnoy on short notice to face Nathaniel Wood at UFC 232 will be Andre Ewell, according to a source with direct knowledge of the booking.

Ewell will step in a month before the matchup to fight Wood at UFC 232 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas. Previously, Wood’s former opponent Duquesnoy was forced to withdraw due to medical issues.

Former CES MMA bantamweight champion Ewell made his victorious Octagon debut in September at UFC Fight Night 137 when he defeated former champion Renan Barao as a significant underdog.

Facing Ewell will be former two-time defending Cage Warriors Fighting Championship bantamweight champion Wood, who made his own successful UFC 2018 debut when he tapped Jonny Eduardo with a brabo choke at UFC Fight Night 131 in June.

UFC 232 will take place on Dec. 29 and will be headlined by a light heavyweight interim title fight between former divisional kingpin Jon Jones and two-time title challenger Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch of one of the greatest fights in UFC history. The event will also feature bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes vying for her second belt when she goes up in weight to face featherweight queen Cristiane Justino.
