The plug has been pulled on a Anthony Morrison and Bryan Goldsby, according to a source close to the event.
Morrison tipped the scales at 146.5 pounds at Friday's weigh-ins, coming in 11.5 pounds overweight for his bantamweight scrap against Bryan Goldsby. Sherdog.com learned of the change to the card shortly after the weigh-ins concluded.
While details are scarce at the moment, the bout's cancellation was likely due to Morrison's failure to make weight and the resultant disparity between the two fighters. Though Morrison asserted that he would find a way to make the bantamweight limit after his first trip to the scale, it is unknown if the fighter made another attempt afterward.
Bellator 44 goes down Saturday and the main draw airs live on MTV2. The show, which emanates from Caesars Atlantic City Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., will be headlined by a non-title super-fight between reigning middleweight king Hector Lombard and UFC vet Falaniko Vitale.
