After nearly a year away from the sport, Phil Baroni is set for a return to action at Bellator 122 in Temecula, Calif.
Sherdog.com has confirmed with sources close to the situation that the “New York Bad Ass” will in fact take on Karo Parisyan in a welterweight bout on July 25.
Following a stint overseas fighting for promotions like One Fighting Championship and Dream, the 38-year-old will look to bounce back from a dislocated ankle and broken fibula suffered in a fight against Nobutatsu Suzuki at One FC 9. Baroni had been publicly campaigning for a bout against Ben Askren, but since has parted ways with the largest MMA promotion in Asia.
Parisyan is coming off the first TKO finish of his career, when he brutally dispelled of Ron Keslar at Bellator 116. “The Heat” still has plenty to offer, as he will enter the fight at only 31 years of age.
Bellator 122 goes down at Pechanga Resort and Casino and features the promotion’s middleweight tournament final between Brett Cooper and Brandon Halsey.
