The Polish promotion announced the booking Monday. KSW 70 takes place at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland, and is available via pay-per-view at KSWTV.com. Pudzianowski and Materla are two of the most popular athletes in KSW history and according to a release, “both men are credited with having a major impact on the growth of KSW and are sporting icons in their native Poland.”
Pudzianowski, 45, is in the midst of a four-bout winning streak in which he has finished all of his opponents by knockout or technical knockout. Most recently, the WCA Fight Team member knocked out Serigne Ousmane Dia, also known as “Bombardier,” in 18 seconds at KSW 64 this past October. Pudzianowski has compiled a 16-7 career mark in MMA that includes triumphs against the likes of Rolles Gracie, Oli Thompson, Sean McCorkle, Jay Silva and Bob Sapp.
The 38-year-old Materla has won four of his last five professional outings and is coming off a first-round TKO triumph against Jason Radcliffe at KSW 66 on Jan. 15. He has competed primarily at 185 pounds during his tenure, capturing the Polish promotion’s belt with a win over Silva at KSW 19 and defending it four times after that. His resume features notable wins against Kendall Grove, Rodney Wallace, Tomasz Drwal, Paulo Thiago and Rousimar Palhares, to name a few.
