A handful of new matchups are now set for UFC on Fuel TV 6, promotion officials recently announced, as Dong Hyun Kim meets Paulo Thiago and Mac Danzig collides with Takanori Gomi.
Additionally, Chinese talent Tiequan Zhang will square off with “Ultimate Fighter” Season 15 tryout Jon Tuck at the Nov. 10 event, while hard-hitting Bulgarian Stanislav Nedkov locks horns with Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva. Headlined by a middleweight confrontation between former champion Rich Franklin and ex-Strikeforce titlist Cung Le, UFC on Fuel TV 6 takes place at CotaiArena in Cotai, Macau, and will also see Hyun Gyu Lim do battle with Marcelo Guimaraes on the undercard.
Kim, 30, enters the cage following a disastrous appearance against former middleweight Demian Maia, during which Kim injured his rib while attempting to defend an early takedown. The July 7 defeat marked just the second career setback for the Korean, who owns eight of his 15 victories via decision.
Thiago, 31, also looks to rebound from a one-sided loss in his last outing, as the Brazilian was knocked cold by former Shooto 183-pound champion Siyar Bahadurzada at UFC on Fuel TV 2. The Constrictor Team rep has posted just one Octagon win since February 2010, taking a unanimous decision from David Mitchell one year ago at UFC 134.
A 31-fight veteran, Danzig has won three of his last five fights after posting a trio of losses from 2008 to 2009. The 32-year-old has been perfect in 2012 thus far, topping “TUF 8” winner Efrain Escudero on April 21 at UFC 145.
Gomi, 33, looks to maintain the momentum gained from his Feb. 26 unanimous decision victory over countryman Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 144. The former Pride Fighting Championships lightweight kingpin had lost back-to-back fights prior to that triumph, submitting to Clay Guida and Nate Diaz last year.
