The penultimate episode of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 set a season-high in the ratings department, as the season's 10th installment earned an average of 1.7 million viewers on Spike TV.

Sherdog.com confirmed the viewership figure with an industry source, who also revealed that the program posted a household rating of 1.2, as well as ratings of 1.91 and 1.7 in the male 18-34 and 18-49 demographics. The episode was the second-highest rated program in its time slot, trailing only “American Horror Story” on FX.

Episode 10 set the stage for the live season finale, weeding out the second finalists in both the bantamweight and featherweight divisions. After pounding out Johnny Bedford in this week's episode, Jackson’s MMA standout John Dodson will now meet Team Alpha Male prospect T.J. Dillashaw to decide the season's 135-pound champion. Likewise, Diego Brandao dispatched Bryan Caraway in the second 145-pound semifinal and will now lock horns with Dennis Bermudez to crown a featherweight winner.

Going down Dec. 3 from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, the live finale will also feature a pivotal middleweight matchup between the coaches of “TUF 14,” as Michael Bisping squares off with Jason Miller. Rounding out the Spike TV broadcast will be a lightweight confrontation pitting Tony Ferguson against Yves Edwards, as well as a bantamweight showdown between Season 14 competitors Louis Gaudinot and Johnny Bedford.

Season 14 marks the series' final appearance on Spike TV for the foreseeable future. Per the UFC's new deal with Fox Networks, the show will begin airing on FX in 2012 with a new, live format.
