The Ultimate Fighting Championship attracted more than 2 million total viewers to the FX network for event broadcasts on Friday and Saturday night.
UFC on FX 6 took place at Gold Coast Convention Centre in Gold Coast, Australia, and saw Ross Pearson earn a third-round technical knockout over fellow “TUF: Australia vs. U.K.” coach George Sotiropoulos in the evening’s main event. The following night, “TUF 16” coach Roy Nelson knocked out injury replacement Matt Mitrione in the first frame of their headlining bout at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Bellator Fighting Championships also held its Season 7 finale on Friday, marking the end of the Viacom-owned promotion’s run on MTV2. According to Sherdog.com’s source, 191,000 viewers tuned in to catch Russian prospect Alexander Volkov grind out a five-round, unanimous decision victory over the hard-hitting Richard Hale to become both the Season 7 tournament winner and the new Bellator heavyweight champion.
The show took place at The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., and marked a significant viewership increase from Bellator 83, which earned just 105,000 observers the week prior. This week’s figure represents the second largest viewership for the promotion during Season 7, only falling short of the 220,000 viewers attracted by Bellator 79 on Nov. 2.
