‘TUF 20’ Finale Weigh-in Results: Carla Esparza, Rose Namajunas Cleared for Title Clash
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship will soon welcome its newest
champion.
Carla Esparza checked in at 115 pounds ahead of her five-round showdown with Rose Namajunas (115) for the vacant women’s strawweight championship in “The Ultimate Fighter 20” Finale main event on Friday at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas; they are the last two fighters standing in what was a 16-woman field on Season 20 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series. Featherweight Jeremy Stephens (146) also met his contracted weight without incident at Thursday’s official weigh-in, but the same could not be said for his cohort in the co-headliner, as Charles Oliveira tipped the scales at 146.5 pounds.
“The Ultimate Fighter 20” Finale -- which airs live on Fox Sports 1
at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT -- will also feature a women’s strawweight
showcase pitting Randa
Markos (116) against Jessica
Penne (115.5) and a pair of lightweight battles, as Daron
Cruickshank (156) meets former EliteXC
champion K.J. Noons and
Joe
Proctor (156) faces Yancy
Medeiros (155.5).
Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will also carry four preliminary bouts: Felice Herrig (115) vs. Lisa Ellis (115), Bec Rawlings (116) vs. Heather Clark (115.5), Joanne Calderwood (116) vs. Seo Hee Ham (114.5) and Tecia Torres (115.5) vs. Angela Magana (115.5). The two remaining undercard matchups will stream to UFC Fight Pass at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, as Aisling Daly (118) collides with Alex Chambers (114.5) and Emily Kagan (116) squares off with Angela Hill (115.5).
