Takeya Mizugaki to Face Eddie Wineland at UFC on Fox 22 in Sacramento

A bantamweight clash between Takeya Mizugaki and Eddie Wineland has been added to the UFC on Fox 22 lineup.

Promotion officials recently confirmed the pairing. UFC on Fox 22 takes place at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, Calif., on Dec. 17 and is headlined by a strawweight showdown between Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson. The evening’s main card airs on the Fox Network.

Mizugaki has lost three of his last four in the Octagon. Most recently, the Japanese veteran was stopped in 48 seconds by current No. 1 contender Cody Garbrandt at UFC 202 on Aug. 20. Mizugaki’s other losses during his current slump have come against reigning 135-pound champ Dominick Cruz and rising star Aljamain Sterling, while his lone triumph was a decision win over George Roop at UFC Fight Night 75 in September 2015.

Wineland, meanwhile, ended a two-bout skid earlier this year with a third-round technical knockout victory against Frankie Saenz at UFC on Fox 20. The 32-year-old Indiana native is 4-5 during his promotional tenure, including wins over Brad Pickett, Scott Jorgensen and Yves Jabouin.
