Nam Phan will drop to bantamweight for a UFC Fight Night 33 showdown with former World Extreme Cagefighting title challenger Takeya Mizugaki.

UFC officials Friday announced the pairing, which takes place Dec. 7 from the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia, and is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Antonio Silva and Mark Hunt. Former light heavyweight king Mauricio Rua will co-headline the event, as he squares off with hard-punching New Zealander James Te Huna.

Mizugaki, 29, has won three straight fights after alternating wins and losses in his prior nine. The Japanese talent kicked off his current winning streak with a unanimous decision win over Jeff Hougland last year and followed that victory with a pair of split decision triumphs over Bryan Caraway and Erik Perez.

Phan, meanwhile, has gone 2-2 in his last four outings, most recently dropping a unanimous verdict to Dennis Siver this past December at UFC on Fox 5. Prior to that victory, the 30-year-old sandwiched a defeat to Jim Hettes between decision wins over Cole Miller and Leonard Garcia.
