A groin injury has knocked Tarec Saffiedine out of his scheduled headlining bout against Matt Brown at UFC Fight Night in Broomfield, Colo., on Feb. 14.
Sherdog.com confirmed Saffiedine’s withdrawal with a UFC official following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com. A replacement opponent for Brown has not been announced. The UFC Fight Night card takes place at the 1stBank Center and includes a featherweight clash between Max Holloway and Cole Miller as well as a welterweight showdown pitting Brandon Thatch against Stephen Thompson.
The final Strikeforce 170-pound champion, Saffiedine made his Octagon debut last January, taking a five-round verdict over Hyun Gyu Lim. In his most recent appearance, the 28-year-old Belgian suffered a third-round technical knockout loss to Rory MacDonald at UFC Fight Night in Halifax on Oct. 4.
Brown, meanwhile, saw a seven-fight winning streak come to an end at UFC on Fox 12 in July, when he dropped a unanimous decision to current welterweight king Robbie Lawler.
