Thiago Tavares (Pictures) will face
Matt Wiman (Pictures) at UFC 85 on June 7 in London, Sherdog.com has learned.
"My manager, Alex Davis, just confirmed this fight," Tavares told Sherdog.com. "I am very happy with the choice of this opponent because he is a tough guy who is coming off three wins in a row, and I think we will make a great fight for the public. I like to face those tougher guys, and I thought this is a great opportunity."
Tavares is in Rio de Janeiro training for the fight at the Minotauro team training center.
"I already have started to train for this fight," the Brazilian lightweight said. "I am here in the training center of the Nogueira brothers, training everything -- jiu-jitsu, wrestling, muay Thai, boxing. We have a great team with great coaches, and I will be very well prepared for this fight."
Tavares is also happy to fight in England again.
"I fought there in Liverpool," he said. "Submitted my opponent with a guillotine in 2006. I thought this is a great opportunity to go back there and hope to do a great show."
