Last week, during a media conference call, UFC President Dana White remarked that his promotion had plans to launch international editions of its popular reality show, “The Ultimate Fighter,” possibly even by the end of 2011. Â
“We’re getting pretty far along. We’re not in the position to announce anything,” Zelaznik said when questioned on the progress of a “U.K. vs. Australia” season of “TUF.” Â Â
“There’s a lot of interest in the U.K. for it and a lot of interest for it here in Australia. We think it would be a massive, massive hit and could take us to the next level here.” Â Â
According to Zelaznik, the concept already has a catchy title attached. In a play on the century-long England-Australia cricket rivalry known as “The Ashes,” the MMA version is being referred to as “The Smashes.”
