Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Thiago Silva has signed with World Series of Fighting and will vie for the promotion’s light heavyweight title through a four-man tournament on March 28.
The promotion confirmed the news after an initial report from MMAFighting.com. Silva will face Ronny Markes in the semifinals of the tournament, while Matt Hamill will be on the opposite side of the bracket and face a yet-to-be announced opponent. The tournament final will take place later this summer.

Silva was unceremoniously by the UFC in February after facing charges of assault and battery. After the case was thrown out by the Broward County State Attorney's Office, Silva was reinstated by the Las Vegas-based promotion, but that was short lived.
Two weeks later, Silva was released a second time after his ex-wife, Thaysa Kamiji, released videos showing the 32-year-old allegedly under the influence of cocaine and wielding a gun in his pocket.
