UFC Fight Night 110 is down to 11 bouts after Thibault Gouti became ill a few hours before the event.
The Las Vegas-based promotion released a statement announcing Gouti’s removal from the card on Saturday afternoon:
“On the advice of physicians, and with the athlete's health and safety in mind, UFC has removed Thibault Gouti from his bout today against Dong Hyun Kim at UFC Fight Night ‘Lewis vs. Hunt’ in Auckland, New Zealand, due to illness.”
No further details regarding the nature of Gouti’s illness were given. The 30-year-old Frenchman made weight without issue on Friday, checking in at 154 pounds. Kim, meanwhile, tipped the scales at 155 pounds.
Gouti was looking for his first career UFC triumph after beginning his Octagon tenure with three consecutive defeats. He last appeared at UFC on Fox 21 in August 2016, when he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Chad Laprise.
