The Ultimate Fighting Championship announced on Tuesday that Thomas Almeida will stand opposite Albert Morales in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 100 “Gustafsson vs. Nogueira,” which goes down on Nov. 19 at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The event will be headlined by a rematch between Ryan Bader and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira; their first encounter was won by the American via unanimous decision six years ago at UFC 119. The event, which will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass, will also see Claudia Gadelha taking on Cortney Casey.
Almeida, a former Legacy Fighting Championship bantamweight champion, had burst into the Ultimate Fighting Championship like a wrecking ball. He was 17-0 when the UFC signed him and the Brazilian didn’t disappoint; he quickly won his first four bouts -- three by knockout -- for the Las Vegas promotion, but in May, he was flattened by Cody Garbrandt in just under three minutes. “The Terminator” is aiming to rebound from what is thus far the only loss of his pro career and he’ll get his chance against Morales.
A veteran of Bellator MMA, Resurrection Fighting Alliance and World Series of Fighting, Morales has yet to lose a bout in the pro ranks. The Californian made his UFC debut in September at UFC Fight Night 94, but Morales had to settle for a lousy. Like his upcoming foe next month, “The Warrior” wants to get back on the winning track.
