Titan FC 44 Weigh-in Results: Sharipov, Torres Cleared for Championship Showdown

Farkhad Sharipov is set to make the second defense of his Titan Fighting Championships bantamweight title Friday night, but standing in his way is unbeaten prospect Jose Torres. The two will collide in the main event of Titan FC 44 and at Thursday’s weigh-ins, both combatants cleared the final hurdle toward their showdown.

Torres, who wrecked shop in the amateurs by beating every man he faced and scooping up various championships, has looked just as impressive in the pros. He’s stopped three of the fur dudes he’s faced and is coming off an impressive first-round TKO of Pedro Nobre to retain his Titan FC flyweight strap. Moving up a weight class, he was the first to step onto the scale and came in at 134.6 pounds.

Sharipov, a Kyrgyzstani who has already fought for Tachi Palace Fights and Bellator MMA, captured his promotional 135-pound title by edging Andrew Whitney via unanimous decision at Titan FC 42 last December. A winner of two in a row and three of four overall, Sharipov looked solid at the weigh-ins. He came in officially at 134.2 pounds.

The co-feature will see longtime MMA vet Gesias Cavalcante take on Kurt Holobaugh for the interim lightweight belt. Holobaugh weighed in at 154.2 pounds while “JZ” clocked in at 154.8.

The action will take place inside Pembroke Pines City Center in Pembroke, Fla., and will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT.
