Tokoro Fights Tamura on Dec. 31
Fight Entertainment Group has added another bout to its Dec. 31
lineup for K-1 Premium 2007 Dynamite!! at the Kyocera Dome in
Osaka.
At a press conference Tuesday in Tokyo, FEG president Sadaharu Tanigawa revealed that K-1's New Year's eve lineup would feature a bout between shoot-style pro-wrestling turned MMA star Kiyoshi Tamura (Pictures) and HERO'S "Cinderella Boy" Hideo Tokoro (Pictures). The bout will be contested at an open-weight contract over three five-minute rounds.
The 38-year-old Tamura, who last competed at 187 pounds after a career of fighting larger opposition, is coming off a dismal decision loss to converted K-1 fighter Taiei Kin (Pictures) last July. Tamura competed last New Year's Eve as part of PRIDE's Otoko Matsuri card, where he viciously knocked out Ikuhisa Minowa (Pictures) with soccer kicks in only 78 seconds.
Tokoro, who has competed between 143 and 154 pounds for the duration of his career, is coming off of a quick submission victory over Wataru Inatsu (Pictures) last month in ZST. Last New Year's Eve, Tokoro took a commanding unanimous decision over Royler Gracie (Pictures) at K-1 Premium 2006 Dynamite!!
