Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returned to the Liverpool Exhibition Centre on Saturday with a heavyweight clash taking center stage.
In the main event of Cage Warriors 107, local favorite Tom Aspinall squared off with Michael Ben Hamouda. It took less than a minute for Aspinall to solve the French enigma, as dropped Ben Hamouda with a huge right hand, then followed up with standing-to-ground punches for the stoppage. Aspinall (7-2) is now riding a 3-bout winning streak, and while he stated in his post-fight interview that he is in no hurry for a title shot, it may be coming soon.
In the co-main event, Liverpool’s own Adam Ventre locked horns with Antanas Jazbutis in a 175 pound catchweight fight. Ventre should have faced Arman Popal in the co-main event, but the latter was withdrawn from the card for medical reasons early the day before. Ventre dictated the pace of the fight, teasing his opponent on the feet and on the ground. After three rounds, the judges awarded Ventre (8-4) a unanimous decision victory.
